Accessibility Features on One World Online

Making Festival Films Accessible to All

At One World Online, we strive to ensure that all viewers have equal access to our films. To achieve this, we offer a range of accessibility features that cater to diverse needs.

Audio Description

Audio description enhances the viewing experience for audiences with visual impairments by providing a synchronized audio commentary that narrates the visual elements of the film. While the number of films with audio description is currently limited, we are committed to expanding this offering in the future.

To access audio description:

1.     Filter films by accessibility options: Filter by Accessibility > Audio Description.

2.     Once you've selected a film with audio description, launch the player.

3.     Click on the icon on the player and select "Audio Description" from the menu.

Subtitles

All films on our platform have Czech subtitles, and many also offer English subtitles. Films with english subtitles are clearly marked as "English friendly." In some cases, colored or descriptive subtitles are available, providing additional context and enhancing comprehension of dialogues and important sounds.

To access subtitles:

1.     Filter films by accessibility options: Filter by Accessibility > Subtitles.

2.     Once you've selected a film with subtitles, launch the player.

3.     Click on the icon on the player and select "Subtitles" from the menu.

Keyboard Shortcuts

Our player supports navigation using keyboard shortcuts, providing an alternative control method for users who prefer not to use a mouse.

Keyboard Control of the Player

On the screen with the video player, you can use the Tab key to switch to the player panel (starting with the Play or Pause button). The player can be controlled with all other buttons on the panel, which can be navigated through with the Tab key. Buttons need to be activated with Enter key (Spacebar starts and pauses playback). When the cursor is on the panel, the player can also be controlled using keyboard shortcuts. If you are using a screen reader, you need to turn off its virtual cursor or browse mode before using keyboard shortcuts - in JAWS with the JAWSKey + Z keys (ypsilon on a Czech keyboard), in NVDA with the NVDA key + Spacebar.
