Once at the forefront of the fight for equality and justice, her voice has now become inconvenient for the regime. Nepali politician Devi Khadku is one of thousands of women who were subjected to violence during the country’s civil war.

About the Film

Nearly 20 years have passed since the civil war in Nepal, yet the echoes of that conflict endure. During the war, Devi was imprisoned and repeatedly raped. She has sought to confront her trauma through active engagement in the struggle for justice, eventually becoming a member of parliament and a government minister. Today, she seeks out women with similar experiences and gathers the courage to continue the fight and hold perpetrators accountable. Many of these abusers, however, now occupy positions of power, making justice for overlooked survivors of sexual violence increasingly difficult. Can Devi find the inner strength to inspire other women to speak out together?
