What’s life like with a brother who is deaf and blind, only able to perceive the surrounding world through touch, smell and taste? And how does one come to terms with a lifelong responsibility for someone?
An intimate view into one Danish family through the eyes of young Christine, who helps care for her older brother Peter, a young man who is fully dependent on his family’s assistance. Lifelong care for a son with a rare combination of disabilities, for whom the Danish system does not provide a full support structure, leaves its mark mainly on his mother. At the same time, Christine is trying to come to terms with what the future might bring and what it means to live in close daily contact with her brother. Thanks to Peter’s mother and sister, his hidden world without images or sound, powerfully conveyed by the film, is full of stimuli and happy moments, though it remains a challenge for everyone involved.
