Talented, passionate, creative, rhythmically accurate – and deaf. Antonia Singla mesmerised crowds with her dance while she herself moved in complete silence. 50 years later, a young woman fascinated by the extraordinary flamenco dancer’s art reveals her forgotten story.
A deaf girl from a Roma slum on Barcelona’s coast became one of the most remarkable flamenco dancers and muses of her time. The film’s narrator, Elena, found 1960s recordings of Antonia’s dances. Impressed by her talent, her bewitching gaze, and the way she sensed vibrations and set the rhythm, Elena begins to look for details of her life. Through scraps of reports from the Internet, she finds people who knew Antonia personally, and with their help uncovers her story: from her first dance moves in front of a mirror, through her life at the forefront of the art world in Catalonia and the rest of Europe, to her mysterious disappearance at the height of her career.
