A hit documentary by Camilla Nielsson watches behind the scenes of the Zimbabwe political systems and the first free presidential election. While one candidate plays fair, the other one does not hesitate to use any means to secure victory. This marks the start of a historic struggle for the whole country’s future.

About the Film

After the worldwide success of Democrats, Danish director Camilla Nielsson returned to Zimbabwe to shoot another hit behind the scenes of the local political systems, this time about the first free presidential election. Young opposition candidate Nelson Chamisa, a lawyer and former student activist, is a symbol of change for many Zimbabweans, but his rival represents the old order – Mugabe’s long-time ally Emmerson Mnangagwa. While one plays fair and tries to reach out to voters through a sincere campaign, the other does not hesitate to use any means, including bribes, lies and fraud, to secure victory. This marks the start of a historic struggle for the whole country’s future.
