About the Film

This documentary is a unique reconstruction of the events on several fateful days in September 2004, when over 300 people, mostly children, were murdered, and the subsequent investigation. Through a mix of contemporary recordings, eyewitness testimony, and original animation, a disturbing image evolves, showing not only the horrifying experience of the hostages but also the equally horrible futile efforts to obtain justice. For more than 15 years, the survivors of Beslan have been demanding that the Russian government take responsibility for and face the consequences of the unsuccessful rescue operation, which resulted in hundreds of victims. All in vain. On whom can you rely in a country where no one is punished for crimes committed, and where those responsible for children’s deaths remain in place?
